The Heart Behind Empowered Accounting
Empowered Accounting was born from a deep desire to bridge the financial knowledge gap for underserved communities. Abigail Escamilla Vurpillat grew up in an immigrant household, where navigating financial systems was often daunting due to language barriers and limited support.​ This left a lasting impression and inspired her to create a firm that provides the guidance her family never had. Fueled by a passion to provide personalized support, Abigail strives to make every client feel seen, understood, and equipped to succeed. As a proud entrepreneur, Acceptance Agent, and Notary Public, Abigail combines her expertise with a deep understanding of her clients' unique needs. With a degree in Business Management from Georgia State University, Abigail turned her education into action by starting her own business. Over the past 10 years, she has successfully run her own firm, gaining invaluable experience in helping small business owners navigate financial challenges. Outside of work, Abigail loves spending time with her family and friends. She has a passion for traveling the world, discovering new places, and immersing herself in different cultures.
Andrea Gutierrez Mejia
MANAGER
Overseeing the smooth operation of the office, Andrea ensures clients receive the best possible experience. She manages tax preparation for both personal and business clients while also providing accounting services for larger businesses. Her role is essential in maintaining efficient workflows and delivering high-quality service to every client. Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and three kids. Andrea loves visiting her home country to reconnect with her sister and share her cultural heritage, traditions, and background with her children.
Michelle Mendoza
TAX PREPARER
Michelle is dedicated to helping clients maximize their returns and minimize their stress. As a native Spanish speaker, she ensures seamless communication and personalized support for every client. In her role at Empowered Accounting, she prepares tax returns and assists her colleagues in meeting a variety of business needs. Known for her happy, energetic, and kind personality, Michelle brings warmth and enthusiasm to her work. Her favorite time of year is Christmas, and her dream is to visit the beautiful beaches of Thailand with her family.
